Joule Agent Design Workshop
A collaborative approach to design your agentic system.
Are you looking to automate tasks that go beyond the repetitive, tasks requiring adaptability, learning, and decision-making? This collaborative method will guide you in designing AI agents to take on these responsibilities, allowing you to focus on what truly matters.
This workshop format aims to empower you and your team to decide which tasks an autonomous AI agent should handle and which should remain in human hands.
Workshop Structure
The following steps provide an overview of the workshop structure. For detailed instructions of each exercise and recommendations, download the workshop facilitation guide.

Define the focus area
Map the current process and identify challenging steps that could benefit from automation.

Identify tasks to delegate
Using the metaphor of “hiring super-specialists” decide which tasks to handle yourself and which to delegate to the super-specialists or agents.

Describe the agent’s job
Write a “job description” outlining what the super specialist(s) need to do, and know. This includes information like tasks it will carry out, data sources and tools it will need.

Instruct the agent(s)
Define the instructions or workflow for the tasks, including decision steps, required data and human-in-the-loop steps.
Before You Start
- Identify an automation use case with agentic potential
- Run a Joule Agent Discovery workshop to ideate and select high-value use case with agentic potential and identify the main users of the future agentic solution.
